Answers:

1. Why do married couples join the MPC Apostolate?

Married couples join the MPC apostolate because they were moved by the compassion and love for marriage and family life. In their calling, these married couples feel gifted by the Holy Spirit to serve in Marriage Preparation Course to share their journey with all the joys and sorrows with the engaged couples in an effort to be a witness of God’s plan for marriage. In doing so, bring the engaged couples a deeper understanding of love as a decision and the life giving nature of a married couple’s relationship in the Sacrament of Matrimony. Through the married couple’s sharing and shining example allow God’s grace to flow through as the engaged couple prepare for a Christian marriage.

2. What keeps these married couples motivated to serve the community?

The merits and joys of the married couples’ efforts in the MPC Apostolate are repaid in many folds. Testimonies from our Presenting Couples:

Ferdinand & Evon (Joined MPC in 2008)

When we first signed up as presenting couples, we didn’t know what to expect. Whether we were qualified or not, in a way, we just jumped to the deep end believing in God’s Providence. As we journeyed as presenting couples, we were ‘WOW-ed’ by God through a deep spirituality in the Presenting Couple community, which strengthened our relationship with our dear Lord and Saviour, Jesus Christ. We were also ‘WOW-ed” by the way our little efforts in presenting, made such an unexpected profound impact on the lives of some of our Engaged Couples. Truly God does not choose the qualified but qualifies the chosen. – Ferdinand & Evon

William & Shannen (Joined MPC in 2005)

‘No one lights a lamp to put it under a bowl or under the bed. They put it on a lamp-stand where it shines for others’ (Mt 5: 21-22) – Through this ministry, we aim at keeping our light on the lamp-stand for others who want to be like us who strive for good family life. By loving and caring for the Engaged Couples entrusted to us, we too have learned the capacity for love, understanding, growth and cooperation. At the same time, it challenges us to strive towards keeping our sacramental signs as a couple shining.” – William & Shannen
